Attorney Geri L. Waksler

Attorney Geri L. Waksler is a land use and zoning attorney who assists landowners and developers in obtaining development permits and zoning approvals from local governments and state agencies. She also practices contract law, including construction contracts. Geri is a member of the Florida Bar and the Charlotte County Bar Association and is certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a Circuit Court Mediator. Geri has an AV Preeminent® peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

Since 1991, Geri had been involved in development projects in Charlotte, Desoto and Lee Counties, the City of Punta Gorda and the City of North Port. She has obtained approvals for four Developments of Regional Impact and has participated in the completion of two sector plans.

Geri received a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in Political Science from Duke University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Miami and a Juris Doctorate, with honors, from Stetson University College of Law. She was a student law clerk for the Honorable Elizabeth A. Kovachevich of the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, with whom she later co-authored the article “The Legal Profession: Edging Closer to Death with Each Passing Hour,” 20 Stestson Law Review 419.

An active member of the community, Geri is a founder of Charlotte Academy and served on its board of directors as Treasurer and Vice President. She is a past president and current member of the board of the Charlotte Local Education Foundation, a member of the board of the Enterprise Charlotte Economic Council and is a past president and board member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Charlotte County, Inc. Geri has mentored high school students in the Take Stock in Children program. She is a 1998 graduate of Leadership Charlotte and 2015 graduate of Leadership Florida, currently serving on the statewide Leadership Team.

Geri and her husband Joe have two grown, self-supporting sons and reward that accomplishment by traveling the world as often as possible. Her bucket list destination – Everywhere!
